Last.fm scrobbling with mplayer
I recently discovered a cool way to scrobble music with mplayer to Last.fm with lastfmsubmitd.
First you need to install lastfmsubmitd and enter your last.fm Username and Password in /etc/lastfmsubmitd.conf(plain text sorry) and add it to your DAEMONS().
Second you need to compile mplayer from source with a modified mplayer.c here is mine it currently works with the latest svn.

I spent a bit more time and got mplayer to update my pidgin status with the current playing song. Available here, requires pidgin_status.py placed ~/.purple/pidgin_status.py, and PUTUSERNAMEHERE replaced with your username in code.
